At Ento, we’re always looking for ways to improve our platform, making it faster, easier or more powerful. Our most recent changes are subtle, but we think they’ll make a noticeable difference in the way you schedule your employees.
Avatars and shift tiles
The main changes you will notice are the default avatar (image) for your employees, and the colors of the shift and leave tiles.
Over the years we’ve had a lot of Excel templates sent to us (we can rebuild them into our employee software for you). One of the most common elements we see is the use of color to distinguish employees, columns or rows.
While we do come across some impressive excel templates, the unfortunate truth is that most of them make us cringe. Excel templates are hard to navigate, don’t have nearly enough capability, and in almost all cases, are filled with colors that make it feel like you’re staring at toucan. (Sorry to anyone that’s sent us an Excel template, it had to be said).
Despite all of this though, we do recognise the benefit in having colors to help distinguish your employees within your schedule, so we’ve decided to replace the ‘mysterious man’ image, for the initials of your employee and allow you to assign one of nine colors available for this avatar to each employee .

We believe this gives you a better overview of your employees, even if you don’t have mugshots of all your employees set up in your account.
Shift tiles
To accommodate more information into your schedule builder, we’ve changed the way text appears in your shift tiles, now displaying over two lines, instead of one. The height of the tiles has barely changed but the changes allow you to get key information without further action, helping you to better assess times, names and statuses easily.

In addition to extra text on shift tiles, we have also improved the display of these tiles to instantly show the status of the shift/leave, and if there are any actions to be taken. This helps you to see any warnings or errors at a glance, without having to navigate throughout the software.

We hope you enjoy the changes, and as always, happy !
