Always take the weather with you

We’re happy to launch our latest roster builder feature – weather forecasts. As most business owners know, what the weather’s doing can play a HUGE part in how busy you’re going to be. To help you anticipate how many staff you’re going to need, we’re feeding the next 10 days worth of hourly forecast information from your local weather station, directly into the top of your roster.

What does it look like?

Roster builder weather bar

In the roster builder header, the daily minimum and maximums are shown, as well as an icon representing what the weather’s going to be doing (on average). The blue area graph shows the % chance of rain throughout the day. If you can’t see any blue in a cell, there’s 0% chance of rain. If the blue goes all the way to the top, there’s 100% chance of rain at that time.

If you hover over a header cell, the following popup appears:

In the hover popup the average wind direction is shown, as well as a red line plotting the exact temperature throughout the day.

This is what it looks like in day view:

Hourly temperature and weather conditions are shown in each cell as well as the chance of rain for each hour.

Where does the data come from?

We source our data from the same place Google gets most of theirs. It is widely considered the most accurate forecast information available. When you first add your address to your areas, we connect them to the closest weather station.

How often is it updated?

We refresh our forecasts every 3 hours.

How do I turn it on?

We’ve already turned the feature on for existing customers, all you need to do is go to your Account → Areas page of your account and set an address for each of your areas. After you set your address, the initial forecast information can take an hour to populate.

How do I turn it off?

Don’t find weather information useful as you roster? You can switch it off from the Rostering section of the Settings → Company settings page.

We’re so happy with how the on roster weather information looks and hope you find it as useful as we think you will.

Happy rostering!
